Okay, that was a little aggressive. But I'm not kidding. WASH YO FACE.
Which brings us to the very first step of your skincare routine! Cleansers.
Facial cleansers play such a crucial role in your skincare routine. They're designed to remove impurities, germs, dirt and makeup that can irritate the skin and create those nasty blemishes we try so hard to prevent. Think about everything that comes in contact with your face each day (yuck). If your face isn't cleansed properly, dirt and pollution accumulate at the surface of your skin and could potentially contribute to breakouts, dehydration and ageing! Even if you don’t wear makeup, it’s SO SO SO very important to wash your face with a cleanser. Finishing your day with an evening cleanse is not only incredibly important to allow for the skin to repair itself from the the day but also to improve your overall skin health.
Now that I've hammered it in exactly how important it is to WASH YO FREAKIN' FACE, I've made it easy and provided my absolute favorite cleansers below that are tried and true. It's just as important to find a quality cleanser that removes all the junk that's accumulated, but also hydrates, nourishes, and stimulates some regrowth.
This is a super-effective, creamy, pH-balanced daily cleanser with conditioners that don't leave your skin feeling irritated or tight. It's also vegan, which is a plus!
Why I love it: this bad boy has 5-conditioners in it that can be used on all skin types (including dry skin) in lieu of balms or oils. It's also gentle and non-irritating, with is the best start to your nighttime routine.

This is a great daily facial wash for normal to oily skin. During application it foams to remove makeup, dirt, and other accumulations from the day.
Why I love it: the price for quality of this product is unbeatable. It's also a really nice soothing gel that removes oil without stripping the pH barrier of your skin.

Tatcha is a VERY popular Japanese skincare brand - and let me tell you, their products WORK. This gel cleanser is packed full of amino acids, luffa fruit (which has been used by Japanese women for decades) which leaves your skin feeling refreshed after washing.
Why I love it: ya'll know how much I love ingredients. Especially clean, natural ingredients. This cleanser utilizes ground fibers from the fruit exfoliate, fruit extract, Japanese wild rose, and Japanese leopard lily to minimize pores, condition skin and eliminate texture. It's SO GOOD.

If you read my blog post on the NakedPoppy products (wink wink nudge nudge) you'll already know that their foaming cleanser is my current favorite cleanser of all time. It's the cleanser you're searching for that's fresh, clean and maintains a healthy balance of skin PH to prevent irritation and/or breakouts.
It cleans perfectly without stripping your skin or leaving an oily film on the surface (we all know what I'm talking about).
Why I love it: once again it has great ingredients (because what you're putting on your face MATTERS). With the lactic and polyhydroxy acids, aloe, and baobab extract - this cleanser is nourishing, hydrating, and really smooths your skin out. It also SMELLS AMAZING. This is a daily cleanser that feels and smells like a luxe spa experience. Glycolic and lactic acids refine and clear pores while pineapple, pumpkin, and papaya enzymes cleanse without over drying. The results? Visibly poreless, perfected skin.
Why I love it: Check back later this week for a post on the best chemical exfoliants and why they're so important! But ultimately, these natural enzymes and ingredients cleanse beautifully, without overdrying.

If you've walked into an Ulta or Sephora - there's no doubt you've seen this before! This is a wildly popular face wash with amino acid-rich soy proteins that literally MELTS away makeup (even mascara!) & impurities for toned skin, no matter your skin type.
Why I love it: the rosewater in this face wash really makes it for me because it has such a calming nature. But I also love how it increases elasticity in your skin after each use! That would be a big "thanks" to those soy proteins!
