We're Engaged!

If you haven’t heard our big news yet, spoiler alert! Bert & I are finally engaged!

I say "finally," because we’ve been asked no less than 1,500 times over the course of the last 4.5 years when we were "pulling the trigger!" Now, we have!!! (And my Q+A box on Instagram will likely be much quieter now, hehe)

Admittedly, I wasn’t sure if marriage was ever something in my future. I had pretty much written off the idea altogether, and let Bert know early-on that was my stance. Boy! Just when you think you have things figured out, life throws you a curveball.

Fast forward from when we first started dating in July of 2015 to December 31st, 2020. We were in a small dark bar overlooking the ocean, in Key Largo. We had a few drinks, we were feeling good, and happy to be out of our house amidst a global pandemic. Before I knew it, I blurted out that I wanted to be married to him.

"What did I just say??!!* was the thought running through my head as the words poured out of my mouth.

I almost wanted to rewind the words before they happened, *until* they actually entered the space between us. I swear both of our eyebrows furrowed in confusion, like when you make puppy noises at a dog, and it twists & turns it’s head side-to-side trying to figure out what language you’re speaking. Then, once I said it. It just FELT right. We both were flirty about the entire idea, and played it out cutely. These feelings were fairly opposite of what my stance had been on marriage for quite some time. Though, never doubting that I wanted to be with Bert for a lifetime - I didn’t think marriage needed to be the route to get us there.

Right in that moment, something flipped for me. Granted, I was thinking it could have felt sooo right because of the shot of tequila I had just drank, but the feeling that came with putting those words into the universe, never left me. My faith in our relationship, and the excitement that came along with this beautiful notion of tying our family together through an actual ceremony of unity, was like a tidal wave. It was as if, it was all happening exactly the way it should be, and as the universe would have it.

It was.

After a few weeks, the conversations quietened about getting married and we both kind of knew where we stood on it. It was in our future one day, we just were in no rush to get there. I was thinking, maybe in a few years we’ll play around with the idea again. Still, when I think of that conversation, I feel little butterflies and a bubbling of excitement :)

I had NO idea our time would be coming sooner… MUCH sooner than expected!

WE. ARE. ENGAGED!

If you are one of my readers and didn’t already know - Bert is a host of a very well known morning radio show, called The Bert Show. And, he’s the best story teller I know! Which works out perfectly because he’s always saving me in social situations when my introverted heart would rather just abort the mission, tell the cliff-notes version, and call it a day because everyone is looking at me.

So, in Bert/Tiffany fashion, I'll let him pick it up from here! Then, also in BT fashion, I’ll have to call him out for any grand radio embellishments. Hope you enjoy the funny way the universe played right into giving him the most hysterical radio reveal for our engagement. Hit the play button below!

And because all of you have been some of our biggest cheerleaders here, we wanted to do something fun and special to celebrate our engagement! My sidekick, Madison, provided us with a series of questions and Bert and I answered them separately and sent them back to her (so this is probably the first time I'm seeing his responses, hehe).

Where did you two meet?

B: Top Golf! My former co host Brian introduced us

T: Topgolf. The ultimate story of how sports + booze = romance

Where was your first kiss?

B: My townhouse. She jumped all over me. I wasn't expecting it. She couldn’t contain herself.

T: ……… this is going to sound so bad. His bedroom. The first night we met. I’ll never forget how swept up in the moment it felt when he grabbed my face in the sweetest of ways, like he’d been waiting 100 years to do it. It was like something out of a movie. I honestly have no idea if he even remembers it, though? *juicy exclusive content: that kiss was as far as that night went :P *

When did you first say "I love you"

B: Damn it. In my townhouse?

T: This one is a question mark for me. We both tossed it around on our first trip in Mexico. The details are fuzzy. He definitely said it first though and he’ll probably say I said it first. Hahaha!

Where did you go on your first date?

B: We did a lot of “group” type dates. Barhopping with Brian and his brother Patrick? I had her pretty drunk for the first 3 years of our relationship.

T: This is SUPER romantic. NOT. A small little pub place called There Bar at 3 in the afternoon on a weeknight. Again, throwing around Dr. honest today. It wasn’t an impressive date. Haha. I almost had the thought that we may not go out again. As you could imagine, we did. One or two more times :)

What do you find most attractive about him/her?

B: Are you kidding? Look at her. She was intimidating because she is so beautiful.

T: Have you seen this guy’s biceps & pecs?! I mean. C’mon. No brainer. Outside of that, the way he loves me. He makes me feel like I’m his QUEEN. Everybody deserves to feel that type of love, and I don’t take it for granted for a second. Never have, never will.

What is one thing that you do that annoys him/her the most?

B: Tie. She has never ever ever ever turned off any light in the house. And she can’t be on time no matter how early she starts to get ready.

T: If it’s not that I’m perpetually late, then it’s news to me!

What is his/her favorite late-night snack?

B: Eggs?

T: Anything sweet. Chocolate. This guy has a sweeeeeeeeeeeeet tooth.

If he/she was a cocktail - what would they be?

B: A MoloTiff cocktail. See what I did there? <--dork. Malibu on the rocks. It’s a lame answer. But when we first met I was drinking straight vodka and this rookie, Tiff, was drinking Malibu Rum.

T: While I would love to make this cute and funny. The dude is Tito’s with a splash of soda. IYKYK.

Where is your dream vacation spot to go together?

B: She’s locked in on Maldives. I’m liking Bora Bora or Bali

T: We currently have different dream vacations. His is Lake Como and mine is either Bali or Australia. I think we’ll be okay settling on one of those ;)

If you two could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

B: Wherever she, Elizah and my boys are is where I want to be. More superficially? Impossible to say. Too much to see still before I could pick that. But Tahiti is tough to beat.

T: LMAO. Right this second, I would settle for anywhere closer to Elizah’s school. I hate to use anything that ends in ‘ville as my “anywhere in the world answer,’ but I’ll take ANY 'ville between Atlanta and Gainesville for two thousand.

Long game…. it’s actually not as important to me as it is to him to live somewhere else in the world. Home starts with your heart, and my heart belongs to my fam. Where they are, I’ll be happy. Bert win’s this round :P
